Plaster Maquette

After studying Giacometti in high school, we were assigned and taught how to make a maquette. To add points of interest, we were encouraged to leave out anatomical areas to challenge the viewer’s eye. I had the privilege of teaching a sixth grade class many years ago on this sculpting technique. Once they were all completed, we created an installation exhibit outside, arranging their sculptures collectively. It was amazing to see the students all working together towards the final product.
